The Edinburg Center is proud to announce a generous donation of gently used office furniture from The Furniture Trust valued at over $156,000. This donation will fully furnish The Edinburg Center’s new community-based day program designed to support young adults with autism.
As a nonprofit organization, The Edinburg Center faces ongoing challenges in securing funding for infrastructure and equipment. Thanks to this partnership with The Furniture Trust, the new program space will be fully equipped to offer a safe, welcoming, and functional environment, something that would have otherwise been out of reach.
“This donation allows us to create a professional, supportive environment for our participants without diverting critical funds away from programming,” said Patti Maguire, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Edinburg Center. “It’s a perfect example of two nonprofits coming together to make a real difference.”
The Furniture Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the responsible reuse of unwanted office furniture. By partnering with businesses to remove surplus furniture, The Furniture Trust is able to redirect these valuable resources to schools and nonprofits that need them most.
“Businesses win by reducing waste responsibly, nonprofits win by receiving much-needed furnishings, and the community wins through enhanced services and sustainability,” said Dana DeVeau, Executive Director of The Furniture Trust. “This is the impact we strive for every day.”
Since its founding in 2008, The Furniture Trust has donated more than $35 million worth of furniture and supplies to schools and nonprofits, while diverting over 14 million pounds of waste from landfills.
This most recent collaboration between The Edinburg Center and The Furniture Trust demonstrates the power of partnerships. The donation not only supports young adults with autism, but also exemplifies the positive ripple effect of sustainable, community-focused programs and outreach.
