Lynn Bishop Retires After More Than 35 Years of Advocacy at The Edinburg Center

After more than three decades of dedicated service, Lynn Bishop is retiring from The Edinburg Center, leaving behind a legacy defined by advocacy, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to social justice.

For over 35 years, Lynn has been a powerful voice for the individuals and families served by The Edinburg Center. Throughout her career, she has been a steadfast advocate for equality and inclusion, earning the respect of colleagues, community partners, and the people she served. Her leadership and values have made her a role model within the organization and beyond.

Lynn’s commitment to justice extended well beyond her day-to-day work. Deeply engaged in civic life, she has been active in local and state politics, working on numerous political campaigns, including Gov. Maura Healey’s campaign for office. Her passion for public policy and advocacy strengthened her work at The Edinburg Center, helping to elevate the voices of individuals with disabilities at the local and state level.

During her tenure at The Edinburg Center, Lynn played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s advocacy efforts. She served as Chair of the Center Advocacy Committee, co-created the annual Legislative Breakfast to connect lawmakers with the disability community, and served as a member of the ADDP Advocacy Committee. Through these roles, she helped ensure that the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities remained at the forefront of public policy discussions.

President and CEO Patti Maguire expressed deep gratitude for Lynn’s service and impact. “I’d like to thank Lynn for more than three decades of service,” Maguire said. “She has demonstrated a tireless commitment to The Edinburg Center and it’s been a privilege to work alongside her. She has been a wonderful friend and colleague.”
