Charles Webster Potter Place Clubhouse, under the guidance of The Edinburg Center, announced the formation of a newly established Advisory Board, comprised of esteemed community members dedicated to strengthening the Waltham Clubhouse’s mission of promoting recovery, independence, and community integration for individuals living with mental health conditions.
The Advisory Board includes a dynamic group of leaders from across Waltham and surrounding areas:
- Sean Durkee, Waltham City Councilor
- Kevin O’Connell, Waltham Chief of Police
- Deepak Kapoor, Attorney at Ligris & Associates
- Cheryl Caruso, Realtor with CJL Rentals & Property Management, and Family Member
- Allene Horowitz, Mental Health Advocate and Family Member
- Michael S., Member of the Potter Place Clubhouse
- Joanne Sears, Adult Employment Specialist Supervisor for The Edinburg Center
These community advocates will collaborate with Patricia Vella, Director of Potter Place and Michael Nderitu, Assistant Director of Potter Place. The Advisory Board will play a vital role in shaping program priorities, expanding community outreach, enhancing daily operations, and increasing visibility and support for the Clubhouse and its members.
“Our goal is to build stronger community connections and ensure our programs continue to reflect the needs and voices of the people we serve,” said Patricia Vella. “This Advisory Board brings a wealth of knowledge, lived experience, and a shared passion for community inclusion and mental wellness,” said Vella.
Charles Webster Potter Place Clubhouse provides pre-vocational, vocational, and social opportunities for individuals with mental health conditions. Operating under the internationally recognized Fountain House Clubhouse model and Clubhouse International, members and staff work side-by-side to manage the daily operations of the Clubhouse. This collaborative, strengths-based approach helps members build self-worth, confidence, voluntarily participate in meaningful work, and gain community support.
