The Edinburg Center was recently awarded three contracts for the delivery of services to children and young adults. The First Episode of Psychosis program is now operational under contract to the Department of Mental Health (DMH). Our FEP team works with individuals ages 16-30 who are experiencing their first symptoms. This program is one of 15 which are up and running across the Commonwealth.

DMH has also sponsored the launch of our Specialty Flex team services. This team consists of a program manager, master’s level Clinician, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, a Therapeutic Support Specialist, and Young Adult Peer Mentor.  The team works collaboratively with the youth, family, DMH and other formal and informal supports to stabilize youth and prevent out of home placements, such as psychiatric hospitalizations. Referrals for the DMH Flex Team are only through the Department of Mental Health.

Finally, the Department of Developmental Services (with funding from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) awarded the Center a DESE contract. This contract allows our children’s team to work with children and youth who are at-risk for out-of-state school placement. The team also helps children who are returning home from an out-of-state placement. Referrals for this program originate with the Department of Developmental Services.Â
